Throughout my upbringing, I was repeatedly exposed to the phrase "poor starving artist," which seemingly conveyed the notion that artists couldn't achieve a fulfilling life. It wasn't until after I joined the USAF that I stumbled upon 3D art, yet it remained merely a hobby; I couldn't envision a viable livelihood in that field, so I pursued a BA in Accounting to advance my military career. Simultaneously, I started a family, and over time, it grew to include five children.
It wasn't until I endured an injury, and was forced into medical retirement that I finally grasped the notion that pursuing one's passions is entirely acceptable. This awakening set me on a path to bring my dreams to fruition and to demonstrate to my children that it's never too late to chase after your dreams.
During this remarkable journey, I uncovered another profound passion: teaching and mentoring, and now, I aspire to integrate all these facets of my life. Consequently, my journey persists, and I endeavor to acquire knowledge as swiftly as possible. I've come to understand that the sole true path to failure is surrender.
In the words of Albert Einstein, "Failure is success in progress."
2007- A friend introduced me to game development.
2009 - The same friend introduced me to 3D modeling with blender.
2012 - I took some classes to better understand the process.
2013 - I lost everything I had created to a corrupted hard drive
2018 - Restarted my 3D journey
2022 - Hired a a 3D artist at a startup making educational games.
2023 - Took a role as the Lead 3D artist and began to really lean-in to mentoring new and old artists alike.
2024 - The journey continues
"Bringing imagination to life" is an important ideal to me. It is my desire and goal to bring art to our youth; eventually, expanding into after-school art programs, both online and in-person.
